Online Pediatric Information Seeking

This research furnishes insight into how mothers of young children seek and use online health information. Some findings from the surveys:
- Mothers show extremely active participation in their children's health - the younger the mom, the more active
- Mothers research mulitple sites and gather both a depth and breadth of condition info
- Mothers often go online to seek reassurance of doctor diagnosis and/or get a 2nd opinion, or even as a substitute when their doctor is not reachable
- Mothers lean heavily on the web for social support
- Mothers are quite sophisticated in terms of deciding how much to trust the information they find
